Iā€™m not sure if I need therapy.  How can I tell?
The answer to this question may be different for each person.  People begin therapy for many different reasons ā€“ some begin following or during a stressful time in their lives, and others are motivated to begin by the desire for expanded personal growth.  Common issues that bring people into therapy may be symptoms of anxiety or depression, general life transitions or difficulties in relationships.  Whatever the reason for beginning therapy, we will create a treatment plan that fits your needs.

How long will I need to be in therapy?
This is a question we can answer together but you will know best.  Some people find the benefit of therapy becomes a part of their regular, ongoing routine just like any other part of self-care.  Others utilize therapy on an as-needed or "tune up" basis.  We will work together to find a balance that feels right for you.

How long are sessions and how frequently will we meet?
Sessions typically occur weekly on a mutually agreed upon day/time though scheduling changes may be accommodated. Each session lasts for 45-50 minutes.

What is your policy around confidentiality?
Confidentiality is taken extremely seriously.  New York State law is very clear regarding the confidentiality of communications between a client and therapist. Information is never disclosed without explicit written permission, with the following important exceptions. A therapist is legally required to report the following:
-  Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse.
-  If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s (danger to others)
-  If a client intends to harm himself or herself (danger to self)

How much does therapy cost?
Please call or email to discuss my fee. Remember, therapy is an investment in yourself.

Do you accept insurance?
I participate as an Out-of-Network provider only. Many insurance plans allow you to select an out-of-network provider and therefore you may be eligible for reimbursement. I provide a monthly invoice which can be submitted to your insurance company for direct reimbursement to you.  Payment is due by cash, check, or credit card at the time of each session.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?
Should you need to cancel your session unexpectedly, at least 24 hours notice is required.  For cancellation with less than 24 hours notice clients are financially responsible for their missed session.  Rescheduling within the same week may be an option (availability permitting) and phone sessions are available on a limited basis.
